This presentation focuses on the Global Color & Design Trends of 2017, as researched and identified by PPG’s international team of color experts and specialists in North America, Europe, and Asia, in the areas of architecture, automotive, consumer products and aerospace. Throughout the creation of this work, our teams are constantly reviewing the information for evidence of a word or topic that conveys an idea that can be linked to each new trend. This year, that theme is Pendulum, pendulums require an event of force to begin moving. Once they begin, they arc steadily away from their origin, faster at first and then reducing speed, before eventually coming to an almost indiscernible halt at a new location. Almost instantly, the pendulum’s anchor point draws it backwards towards its starting point. Trends are similar in that they have a force behind their beginning, move at a steady speed, they eventually slow to a point at which stop before quickly embarking into another swing.
In addition to the CEU, a photographic presentation entitled “How I Design” by Sina Pearson will highlight her design process, including source inspiration, as well as the process of developing designs and case studies.

Join the IIDA Triangle City Center for the evolution of porcelain tile CEU presented by keynote speaker, Joe Berman with Crossville Tile. Porcelain has changed dramatically including, technology, formats and application usage. In this CEU, we will provide in depth information required for successfully specifying thin porcelain as a material finish. This course will provide the participant detailed information on the current codes and regulations and will also examine the environmental impacts as it relates to sustainability and occupant health. Chip O’Rear with Custom Building products will provide an installation demonstration and Q&A regarding a variety of installation methods.
This CEU is AIA and IDCEC approved.
Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible: Custom Building Products, Crossville & Mosaic Commercial Solutions
Join us for an educational presentation and refreshments.
“Quartz Surfaces: Attributes, Production, Benefits, and Design Applications” AIA and IDCEC credit This one-hour Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) course will give you a solid understanding of the fundamentals of quartz surfacing with an overview of the supply chain. Specification best practices will be discussed regarding the many ways quartz can be used in commercial applications. You’ll also learn how to ensure spectacular results through optimal design engineering. In addition, we’ll examine how to choose the best surfaces for specific applications, as well as quality control considerations for manufacturing variables
