Located in the quaint town of Matthews, NC, Plantation Estates expanded their established community with a new, 45-acre development to add residences, green space, and amenities. The centerpiece of the new expansion is a community clubhouse housing a wide variety of dining, wellness, and amenity spaces.
Respecting the existing quality and craftsmanship of one of ACTS Retirement’s premier communities, the interior design of the new clubhouse provides an updated aesthetic with a trend towards transitional. High wall trim, wide door and window trim, and high plinths reflect the Arts & Crafts style of the exterior design and surrounding neighborhood. Warm, neutral finishes create a luxurious environment for residents and staff. Wood-look tile flooring and carpet patterns are progressive, yet understated; wood-look ceilings offer warmth and acoustic properties; and the lighting is unique to each space. High-end commercial grade furnishings provide the balance of residential aesthetics and institutional durability essential for maintaining community’s appearance and appeal over time.
This community’s residents are social, and in response, the client prioritized the inclusion of unique and striking design features that appeal to residents and support flexible use of amenity space. Specifically, designers included double-sided fireplaces in the bar/patio and formal dining room, as well as a water wall in the juice bar. Strategically selected and placed furniture offers a variety of places for respite, socializing, and activity throughout the expansion’s public spaces.
