The project vision for this confidential client, a Global Management Consulting Firm, was to create a balanced, multifunctional “home” that facilitates productivity, privacy, and community through choice and variety; in a way that makes “virtue out of small”, reflects the spark that is igniting Charlotte, and echoes the energy the client has for their work; so that the space projects their values with integrity and sophistication. This 6,750 SF first-generation upfit within the heart of uptown Charlotte successfully executed each of the unique design drivers set forth during visioning to elevate the employee and client experience.

The first driver was to design the space that creates a desire within employees to be present in the office often. Creating a cultural “destination” increased employee attendance in the office by over 50%. The second driver was to evoke a sense of southern hospitality through the design. A warm welcome reminiscent of a rocking chair front porch greets employees and clients as they enter the space. The custom-fabricated art installation is a nod to the blend of old and new Charlotte. The final design driver was to celebrate the spirit of the firm’s partnership. Providing versatility in offices that transform into conference rooms and focus rooms gives choice and variety to all. Carefully integrating security but offering transparency allows the space to feel welcoming yet safe. And intentionally crafted amenities with purpose ensures all spaces within the small footprint are best and highly utilized.
