Have you ever wondered what great food and great art have in common with one another? This was the challenge for the team assembled to design this art inspired restaurant. The client’s vision was to create an environment crafted by six guiding principles: • artful in design • adaptable to multiple occasions • sustainable towards the environment • organic in nature • approachable in aesthetics • memorable in experience To support the owner’s guiding principles, the design team took their cue from the culinary masterpieces created in the kitchen. The concept was born: the food becomes the art! To further support the concept, the team envisioned the restaurant as an art gallery, where curated art would rotate with the seasons giving diners a new experience each time they returned. Infused with both color and texture, the culinary creations and art pieces became the focus of the restaurant. To enhance this concept, all finishes surrounding these primary elements were neutralized in color. The Owner envisioned a screen element to allow passage from the main entrance into dining room without walking directly through the bar. The design team proposed a kinetic piece that was veil-like in expression. Floating above diners, the wood and steel piece is energy in motion. Organically inspired carpets, regional woods, glass, steel and handmade paper accents create a neutral backdrop allowing the rotating art and food creations to become the central focus of the space.
