Project Description:

This prototype design for an international retailer was designed for customer convenience. The design streamlines shopping and shipping.  A comprehensive product display allows customers to make selections and purchase in the store, and have items shipped to the destination of their choice.  To make the process efficient, customer-friendly technology was vital.   The client desired a sleek and contemporary space to display their brightly colored products.

The design team encountered many challenges.  The new space was less than half the size of the owner’s previous store.  The designers incorporated storage into “every conceivable” location while maintaining a “clutter-free” aesthetic.  The design team created a white backdrop to enhance the form, and color of the cookware.  All millwork, including the built-in wall display units, are designed to be easily removable in the event of quick relocation.  With only six months from conception to move-in, the schedule was extremely tight.

Judges Comments:

A fabulous space that still allows the product to take center stage and shine. Exactly at what a truly successful retail project must excel. Hats … or should that be “lids” … off to this creative solution. (David Stone)

Creative millwork solution with layers of products and attention to individual pieces. (Jane Hallinan)

I really like the frying pan reference in the ceiling.  Great fixturing and display- very clean and orderly. (Michael Dudek)

  • Excellent retail space – elevates the small product and showcases it beautifully
  • Love the white box with wood contrast, and how the product provides the color pop
  • Ceiling detail of a stover burner is awesome
  • Space feels contemporary and homey at same time
