How Does IIDA Assist Individual Designers?
Qualification
IIDA requires its Professional members to pass the examination of the NCIDQ (National Council on Interior Design Qualification). Designers with IIDA attached to their names represent the highest standards in training, experience, and professionalism.
Continuing Education
IIDA offers a full range of continuing education opportunities in interior design and business practice for interior designers. Courses are given at the regional and local levels; in connection with international trade shows; and through home study via industry publications and the Internet.
Compliance Requirements
Professional and Associate Members are required to take 1.0 CEU equal to 10 hours of continuing education units.The current compliance period for Professional and Associate Members is January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007. This compliance period applies only to those who became either a Professional or Associate Member prior to January 1, 2006. If a person became a Professional or Associate Member after January 1, 2006, their first compliance period will begin January 1, 2008.
Legislation
IIDA has established a Government and Regulatory Affairs Program that has proven to be effective at the national level in the United States. IIDA is committed to assuring that interior designers are strongly and accurately represented in forthcoming hearings of the International Code Council (ICC).
Advertising
IIDA's international advertising campaign focuses on public awareness of IIDA and the importance of interior design.
